Bald Lookout, April 17
After camping just north of the bald, hiked with Skip, Atlas the dog, Permagrin, B and Stomper. Traveling through yet more gaps (Licklog, Burningtown, Tellico), lookouts (Copper Ridge Bald, and Rocky Bald) and campsites. Legs are definitely getting stronger, and the knee isn't nearly as sore. Where single digit days marked the first week, now mileage in the teens is more common. Stopping for lunch in a shelter between Balds.
J: So, after a couple of hours hiking, I'm in Cold Spring S. with a brave little bird. It won't eat from me yet, but I'll try. Spring has again regressed as I've moved further N and up. Had my first day over 14 miles. Ankles and balls of feet are suffering dogs. May make Rufus (Morgan S.) tonight, then NOC in the a.m. Gotta get insoles. Cup of oatmeal getting cold - so until this p.m...
