Laural Falls
Laural Creek Falls. This is one of those times I want to hike back and take a shot with a decent camera. OK, so this is one of a hundred different spots I want to do that -- maybe the whole hike again -- but that white mass in the middle is Laural Creek Falls.
It's early afternoon and we've hiked fast down that easy stretch of fabulous trail. Babbles, Tired Dogs, Permagrin and Pieps, and me. We're hot, we're sweaty, and we're undeterred. We all went in for swim. There are a lot of terms for mountain streams, but I think 'bracingly cold' is the best here. It took your breath away for a moment when you first splashed in and swam up to the base of the falls. A moment, or three.
