Looking at Rt 7 from Bears Den

Toonman and I walked a short 0.5 to Rt 7 about 9 a.m. Caught a ride from a lady from West Virginia to Purcerville. Had to roadwalk a bit, past some bridge construction, and caught a ride from an American Lit prof at GMU. Very negative fellow going off on world problems, 'too many f***ing people because there are too many people f***ing.' While I agree, he was REALLY strung out about it. So he dumped us off in McLean and we couldn't have been more relieved.

Grabbed a hitch with a guy in a van (Toon can really hitch). We got dropped off on Chain Bridge, not too far from Nutley and Dunn Loring metro. OK -- my turf. I told Toon we simply catch the metro into the city, then transfer to Huntington and catch a bus to my old neighborhood. Great way to travel.

Only, it wasn't. Rode into D.C. only to learn that the yellow line (my local spur) was down due to a broken gas main by the airport. Might be blocked a while. Well, that's OK -- we can find something to do downtown.
