Iron Masters Hostel, PA, July 4 Early in the evening, finally to the hostel where I came upon Magoo, D.C., S.B., J.B. and even DelDoc. DelDoc was doing a study on thru hiker feet and neuropathy from rock shock. He tested the feeling in my feet, each toe up the top and bottom of the feet to the ankles, or until I could feel the pencil press in. Amazingly, I had more feeling that I thought. The toes were mostly all gone, but between the metatarsals and the ankles, there was some feeling. The stiffness setting in on the knees and ankles wasn't likely arthritis - yet. Still, the first few minutes of getting up in the morning, one had to 'walk off' the grumpy lameness of the legs. And that was getting progressively worse with each state. Stretching and massage helped, some. This hostel has a long storied history, including being part of the underground railroad. |
