Cumberland Valley, July 6 We broke camp early to get ahead of the heat. It was more oppressive down here in the lowlands, even with the easy walking through bottomland forest, road walking, stiles and farm fields. A stretched out line of hikers on migration. Rested with JettButt, Sherbear, D.C., Magoo, Jack-in-the-Green, Shirt and Model T at the regional ATC office in Boiling Springs most of the day. The office manager asked us to write up the story of the fire for their maintainer magazine. Wrote cards to Chaos/Melissa, Teresa M., Rich & J and mom and dad. Memphis and Sourball showed up. Memphis had this hysterical story about a road crossing where he looked down in the culvert and found a marital aid d-d-d-d-device, delivered with this Porky Pig imitation that only accentuated the horror and shock of such roadside litter. |
