Bleu Blaze Hostel, July 10 The Bleu Blaze, a hostel and campsite offered by Dick and Ann Tobias from their garage and back yard. This place is magical. Rocks aren't too bad -- not as I imagined PA would be. Still, some sections have been tough. Basically rock ridgelines beating the feet handsomely. Hope the feet forgive me soon. A lot of hikers have seen snakes - Timber, Diamondback and Copperheads. I've been skunked beyond the green tree snake and that king snake in Virginia. Sheltering tonight here at the Bleu Blaze. This guy Dick is a prince, lots of tales about the area. They've built a fun garden in their back acreage -- a fun little maze (and I do mean little, maybe 15 feet square, but with all manner of silly exhibits, cute sculptures, patterns), a rope zipline, a dinosaur and the magic ice cream/cola frig. How many things do I discover along each day - only to forget when I have pen to paper. These will have to reside in my subconscious, treasures for me alone. Stories for future campfires, friends and such. Tired and in a strange mood - just not as happy as I expected for such a great setting. |
