March 9 Ice Storm

March 9 Ice Storm

The regions's third significant ice storm in four weeks packed a bit more than the prior ones. Fortunately the earlier ice storms had already taken down most of the weak trees and power lines. There were still outages, and driving was just as treacherous as ever, but even the students were wising up, electing to just venture out enough for classes, essentials and beer. Throwing the chains on the 4runner had become nearly 'muscle memory' for me at this stage.

By this time, I figured I had my meal planning down fairly well, all of my gear well tested and broken in, and might be ready for a start date around the first of April. Oddly, a lot of apprehension and the lingering self-doubt of 'what the hell are you doing' had dissipated. I was now leaning more toward nervous anticipation (of a huge unknown).

This photo is another campus shot just after sunset -- near Cheatham Hall.
