J: 9/5 - In at the Galehead hut. Weather came back today - in spades. Left the campsite, came up over Liberty, Little Haystack, Mt. Lincoln, Lafayette, Garfield and over Galehead. Room here for me tonight, even though four southbounder came in (the unspoken max of thruhiker workforce), the croo made room for me. Cold and wet, but warming up. I'm sitting at an indoor picnic table, shed the jacket, pants and pack. Great to have shelter from the storm. The rain and wind is to pick up tonight. Today's winds were 40-45 mph and the ambient T never broke 40F. Wind Chill brings that down to -1F or lower. No wonder it was chilly at lunch.

In here with Dori, a second year student from Dartmouth leading an orientation group. Physics major from TN. Dartmouth students get a most interesting introduction to their school. (I seem to recall getting a campus map, a photo ID card and a receipt for my dad's tuition check.) Also, three fellows head back to Garfield Tent site. So I was largely surprised at the large number of folks here tonight. At least 14. Only 10.3 miles, but I feel I earned them.
