Snapping Turtle N. of Gorham
While in town, wrote and thanked Belinda for the trail magic. Also wrote Laurie about Hanover and the Gathering if she's thinking about a future hike. Also wrote Karen and Amy, who have been great encouragement on this jaunt. I need to write a whole lot more.
Escaped from Gorham this afternoon. Hitching in and out of Gorham was cake - friendly place. Upon arrival at trailhead, put another note on the Reynolds (PA couple) car. The first one had disappeared (odd, that).
Climbing up, I ran into this big fellow. Didn't want to disturb him, but after 20 minutes, it was time one of us got on our way. Wrestled with it to get it aside -- boy was it upset. This thing was 15 or 18 inches long. And what claws. Thought it was really misplaced this far from way down the road. Wow.
