Piscataquis Ford

Piscataquis Ford

With an interest in just making Monson, still with damp gear from the last five or six damp days of walking, there just wasn't much point in stripping off the boots and socks for the flipflops. Everything was equally moist. I set the camera on the rock, hit the timer, and demoed the crossing.

As it turns out, crossing in boots was a LOT easier than with the flipflops. I admit getting the flipflops seemed to save a quarter pound off of each teva they replaced, but they sure didn't stay on the feet very well. Add in slick boulders and rocks, slimy mud, algae and such. 'flops tend to wash around in water, slipping out from under foot. They stick to mud, too. A bit of a bad choice for combo water/camp shoes -- as my field testing went. So I got the shot to show mom and dad, went back, retrieved the camera, and completed the crossing.
