So THIS is the Green Tunnel
A full day off does a body good. Jaguar Bob and Jack-in-the-Green stayed behind for a day of rafting, so I packed and headed up this hill. Caught up with Fox, who had an interesting story about a young couple I had passed a half mile back. Apparently, he had to literally step around them on Trail as they, um, got reacquainted and a bit oblivious, on the A.T.
I'm 3 mi into the five mile hill. Shelter is two miles beyond. Fontana Dam is three days away. With more food than I need, the pack feels back up to 50+ lbs. Pileated woodpecker making plenty of noise above on a sunny Tuesday afternoon. Gentle breeze and partly cloudy. Gorgeous. I'm getting in shape for this -- really feel a difference.
