Clingmans Dome M=10.1; C=196.9, E=6643 View from the top of Clingman's Dome. Oddly, I didn't take any pictures of the visitors tower itself save for pieces of the pedestrian ramp (sliver on left). This is looking back S down trail, a part of which is visible through the trees on that hump in the distance. Clingman's Dome is the highest point in the Smokies, and the lookout is accessible by car, so it is a popular tourist destination. Not a bad place to yogi some treats, either. Skip, Stomper, Permagrin and I tried to look our most pathetic, with mixed rewards. |
