Albert Mtn. Firetower

Albert Mtn. Firetower

The access to the top of the tower was locked. Obviously, we wouldn't have seen much up there. I bet on a clear day it is spectacular. Moving a bit better today, after camping at Carter Gap Shelter the night before.

J: 4/14, Carter Gap S. - made it. Hike was really rather simple. Arrived tired, but not exhausted. Met up with High-5-R (a 70 yr old nurse) up by Timber Ridge Trail. She mentioned that she was to hike with a pediatrician from Blacksburg, but that fell through. She went on up the trail. Standing Indian Mt. was a real pleasure to climb. Weather let me see for miles.

Sam, Fox, Mike and Espy all sheltered. Wombat and Woodchuck up ahead, presumably put in a long day. Ranger Smith, Front Seat back. Hoping Jettbutt/Sherbear are still on. Kind of like family at this point: everyone pulling for each other. Tomorrow may rain, but would like to make Rock Gap S.
