Trillium, the trail pup, May 2 J: Sun came up and heated our tired bodies. Out of Spring Mtn. S. Lunched with Seuss who spotted this abandoned pup at a campsite. He couldn't leave the pup, so he repacked his gear to free up the top compartment of his pack, lined it with a spare trash bag, and Trillium got a birds-eye ride up trail with us. Gear shakedown. For the first hundred miles, I was using a 1 liter rubbermaid water bottle with a fliptop straw-like dispenser. Didn't weigh too much, but doing a pack flip would often launch it into the bushes. Keith or Babbles salvaged it for me once after a water break at a gap. I think I'd rather have something that weighed less, stayed put better in the hipbelt holster, and I could see through. Widemouth sport drink bottles worked perfectly, so shave an ounce or two and gain functionality. |
