I may have hiked over 8 miles today, but they don't count. The last mile was the toughest from Black Mountain Shelter to the actual start of the A.T. Two brass plaques embedded in the rock and the first white blaze await hikers. I've finally arrived at the start of the journey.
Mist and fog had been teasing JettButt, Sherbear and me since Black Mountain. It didn't look like it was going to let up this evening.
