Angels Rest above Pearisburg, VA

Angel's Rest. Warm, sunny day. Getoverit and I had departed Woods Hole this morning for a really pleasant stroll along the ridgelines for eight miles. This outcropping let us look NNE, so we lunched before the descent.

Full of food (and ourselves) and abandoning our senses, we Desperado'd (RAN) down the 1.5 miles to Va 634. I didn't realize it as the time, but I ruined my knees in that stunt, what with the weight of the full pack.

Once in Pearisburg, hitched into Blacksburg with a fellow on his way to Richmond. Strange to be 'home' in the house with the dudes. My little basement room. Gone nearly two months - was I expecting some kind of transformation?

Jumped in the 4Runner late afternoon. Had arranged to meet up with Buzz up near Mountain Lake, off of 601 - the back way into Johns Creek valley. Cruised up Main Street, out to 460. Here's a change: going 55 is incredibly fast and scary. 3 mph is a very different world. Buzz was at the road crossing -- hadn't been waiting long. We headed back down 460 to Pearisburg. Found most everyone at the motel, so it was off to dinner with Getoverit, O.C., Sweet Mags and Jack-in-the-Green.
