Peaks of Otter Overlook, BRP

Sweet Mags and I came out of Bobblets Gap Shelter mid morning to a late breakfast yogi. I knew I wasn't going to get great miles today - it was a resupply in Buchanan. I still couldn't seem to hitch worth a damn, and the road walk was 5 miles. Surprise -- got a great hitch. Made the PO with time to spare. Met Slowpoke '94 there. He's already in Harpers, but came back -- I can't recall why. Ate at the local diner, but forgot to leave a tip for a $3.50 tab. Dumbass, they treated me well, too. Called Mom to chat and catch up. Total trail mileage for the day once I made it into Bryant Ridge Shelter: 12.3.

Up with the sun, gone with the wind
She always said I was lazy
Leavin' my home, leavin' my friends
Runnin' when things get too crazy
Out to the road, out 'neath the stars
Feelin' the breeze, passin' the cars

Women have come, women have gone
Everyone tryin' to cage me
Oh, some were so sweet, I barely got free
Others they only enrage me
Sometimes at night, I see their faces
I feel the traces they've left on my soul
Those are the memories that make me a wealthy soul

After phone calls to my tenants and trying to reach friends Drew and Beryl in Harrisonburg, I figured I could try again in Tyro. Made it back on the road by 12:30 - yuk! Could NOT hitch until nearly at the top of the hill - bitch of a roadwalk.
