The Guillotine, reverse angle once one's through.

Pushing on through the heat, we made Marble Spring for camp. This a.m., Hulagn had bolted with DelDoc (a retired medical researcher) early, and they're probably 5 miles north. I'm camping with Seuss, Shirt, Sweet Mags and Bud tonight. Seuss and Shirt are two fellas from the greater Richmond area. Both are in excellent shape -- hiker 'gearheads', if you will. I think they said they worked at outfitters, which explains their easy comfort with even strange gear they come across on trail. So the four of us made camp at this campsite south of the James River, waiting for rain. (ah, the observant folks are doing math here, noting four hikers and five names. I suppose I should explain 'Bud'. Sweet Mags is a single gal on trail. We are all 'trail family' out here, but we don't always know who else is reading the registers. To preclude any issues as a lone lady hiker, Sweet Mags named her pack 'Bud'. So, they hike together. Not to mention that she's hiking with three single males, and we are ALL protective of each other out here. No worries.)

It's been a long day - I am considering shaving. Just to be cooler. Maybe as an offering to the deities of precipitation. Still waiting for the rain. Much as I don't fancy packing in the rain, I'd rather have springs than clear days.
