Lincoln Memorial from the Mall
Speaking of the Civil war -- having just hiked through John Mosby's encampment on the side Mt. Weather, the other most somber place in D.C. is the Lincoln Memorial. The steps of the Memorial is the best seat in the house for fireworks on the 4th of July -- but I suspected I would be long gone before then.
