BadDNA halfway, July 5 Only 1,069 miles left to go. Good thing we were pointed in the right direction. I had been on trail exactly three months. If I still had my itineary, I would have two months to finish. Completely do-able, but as I discovered in Virginia, the journey had become vastly more meaningful (and fun) when I tossed the deadline. A hiker rule is 'the map is not the territory'. A corillary perhaps: 'it's the journey, not the destination'. For all aspects of life. |
