Magoo, me and Getoverit Pushing on, we found that by late afternoon, we were in a shelter and still had some daylight to burn. Trail family caught up with us just as we started fishing out food gear. An early dinner with Magoo & D.C., reading register entries. The Trail takes its toll on relationships. Getoverit and Grin-n-Bearit were working hard to keep in touch as he headed north. Goodard Shelter Register - 'The Jilting of Mowry' Thru Hikers Beware - you never know who or what your girlfriend/boyfriend is doing at home. [written on the back of page 7, a letter from Jenny] I hope you are safe and doing well on the Trail. Your backpack and belongings will be at your apt. I plan to call Ryan and tell him he can go there to get the pack. Take care of yourself Scott and please know that I do not want to hurt you or be cruel to you. That's not what this letter was about. You deserve the truth. Please be careful, Jenny. P.S. The verdict should be in by Tuesday, July 12th. I hope. Ouch. We're all a pretty tight family out here, even if we've only known each other via register entries. There's a 'benefit of the doubt' appreciation of each other forged through the common pain of twelve states of walking. And few among us don't 'understand' the myriad layers of nuance that scrap of a letter in the register represented. A later entry: 'To the person who dropped the roll of twentys (sic) tied with a red rubber band on the trail north of Goddard shelter - I found the rubber band.' - the happy hiker.
