Katahdin from Daicey Pond, Oct 6
I went back out and sat on the picnic table, staring at the mountain for a while.
I resigned myself to put in the 2.5 miles between Daicey and K-camp at the base of the mountain. And the weather down here was beautiful. Above me, Katahdin had her shawl of white and veil of cloud before her summit. My trip was over. How could I find out when the mountain would reopen? I couldn't call the office from Millinocket, as they would be closed for the weekend - and Columbus Day. Things were less than great. My mind was numb. Maybe I'd make my way around the park to the campground and explore.
