I reached K-camp - deserted. But four packs were in the bunkhouse. Four packs, no owners. I dropped pack and headed for the ranger station here at camp. In the parking lot - is that Pieps? And yeah, Permagrin in a car? Oh man, family!
They asked me if I had climbed - no. They climbed 10/2. Wait, y'all climbed? Oh yeah, a bunch did.
Whoa - the mountain is closed.
We did it anyway.
Alright! Thru-hikers! But it was now pushing ten - nearly too late to do it today. Suddenly, things looked a whole lot different. They had come to find Phish, Frenchy and Yeti for a ride out. I told them the boys were a half day behind me.
Wow - everyone was confused. So I registered for the remaining bunkspace, and off we went in the car to look for hikers and do chores.
