Katahdin at sunset
J: It's a very cold night here at Katahdin Stream. We returned to find hikers everywhere. The Bs, Yeti, Frenchy, Phishstick, Seuss, Mariner, Otter!, Koogliak, Lorax, Sundown, even Blackberry Bob and my section hiker friends from last night. Otter told me he and Jack went up - made it while the weather had turned back Sole Power, the Duo, Finn and others. Bad weather, but they pushed on. The register gave the story of SB/JB, Magoo/DC, Big John, GOI and others. A LOT had climbed disregarding the scare tactics of the rangers at Daicey.
Some weekenders pulled a dirty stunt in moving me out of the bunkhouse when a sixth 'showed'. Some people are scum. But I'll shack up with Otter and P and P tonight in a shelter. Still don't know how I'm getting word to Hanover that I may be late. Will work that out tomorrow. We plan to climb around seven. I shared my story about the Lady Ranger and the reporter. I think Otter joked about OJ, 'Maybe they were looking for jurors?'. While sitting about, a new group arrived, the fellas we met at McD's. Polar Bear, Bird Shooter, Strider, Harry and a few others. More faces. Feeling emotional about this night - crazy feelings. It's about 30F and falling.
