I LOVE planning vacations. Daydreaming about destinations, exploring our various options, getting to pick the best lodging/accommodations to fit our family's sometimes special needs.... it's all good.
This year we agreed that Chudleigh (our black lab mix) was coming along for the journey. That helped to narrow our options quite a bit and make the final choice all that much easier. Snooping around on Craigslist, I found a last minute "deal" for a rental home on Corolla (the Outer Banks of NC). 5 bedrooms, private pool, hot tub, pool table, 1500 feet from the beach, overlooking a lovely little pond fondly known as "Turtle Lake" and they accept dogs. We booked with just a couple of days to spare, loaded up the vehicle to the point of bursting and headed for the coast!
7 days of beach life does a body good. There's no way around it. We visited the impressive sand dunes of Jockey's Ridge, climbed all 200+ stairs of Currituck Lighthouse, visited the Wildlife Education Center adjacent to the lighthouse, rented a Jeep and explored the northern reaches of the island and spotted 4 separate "herds" of wild ponies, contemplated the accomplishments of the Wright Brothers, took in the aquarium on Roanoke Island, soaked in the hot tub, played in the pool, walked the beach, counted turtles in the lake, and just had FUN!
Not a fancy layout on the pics, but you'll get the general idea ;-)
