Snow Days!!!

Finally, a snow storm hits the Triangle!!! Woohooooo! How many children went to sleep Monday night full of excitement and anticipation? They were not disappointed. 6-8" by the time it was all done. Not much can get Emily out of bed early in the morning, but the promise of snow is a surety. Her eyes popped open by 6 am. Hats, boots, snow pants, mittens....all were donned in record time and Em had her first taste of falling snowflakes before 7 a.m.

Maddie was not quite so impressed with the beauty of it all. Snowflakes falling in her face were not favorably received so we grabbed a big umbrella and made the "long trek" down to the end of the block and back.

While Maddie and I headed for the comfort of the kerosene heater, Paul took Emily down the end of the block and into the woods with some of the neighborhood kids for some woodland explorations.

When you're a kid, any hill is a good one for sledding. Don't worry that there are huge trees trunks directly in the path, stumps popping up along your slope, or limbs threatening to clothesline you as you make your decent. It's all good (and thank goodness mom wasn't there at the time to see it!)
